Swasth Bharat  – Transforming Rural Health

Swasth Bharat Mission is a Preventive Healthcare project being run with a mission to provide Community level Healthcare Services to the masses.

Our vision is to provide Free Quality Healthcare to the rural parts of India by using IT and Advanced Technologies as catalysts for Public Health Keeping and making an impact by improving the lifestyle of the people we serve

We are conducting free Health camps to promote and educate people about preventive healthcare, informing them about the measures to be taken for disease prevention, and performing free health checkups. Our Mission is to create an environment in which the frontiers of health research extend across the country and advances in technology are implemented to detect and prevent diseases concerning the health of the people, especially amongst the rural folks.

We are able to bring healthcare to the doorstep of the people with the help of using our state-of-the-art Mobile Healthcare Van, which is equivalent to a moving hospital, equipped with Medical Instruments and Hospital Management System, and being run by a Medical Team, complete with Medical, Paramedical and Helper staff.

The process works in a way, where we visit one village per day, set up the medical camp, our team of medical professionals performs the tests based on multiple parameters, and instant consultation is provided based on the test results. We are also providing people with medicines and spectacles if required. This entire process is completely free of cost.

What is the Health Camp?

‘Health camps’ are one of the strategies adopted by both government and non-government organizations. This literally means that a team of health professionals held camps in an area to carry out a limited health intervention.

For instance, the government organizes sterilization camps for women. Or an NGO organizes a diabetes screening camp. Or a private hospital organizes a blood donation camp.

The aim of the camps is not just to provide health services but to create an environment where the whole community gets sensitized to health issues.

A Free medical Camp can be considered as a life-saving program that aims to provide free medical and surgical services to poor communities living in rural or urban areas by a mobile team with varieties of medical specialized services.

Role of Citizens

Though the government is organizing these free health camps in various villages and helping many people. But considering the population of India, Governmental camps are not sufficient to help all the needy people across the country. A medical army providing help to the people has to be increased.

Local Citizens must take initiative to help the people around them, as it is the need of an hour. If a small group of people can come together and organize funding and equipment required for the camps, also can convince medical professionals to join them for the Noble cause.

With the help of these organizations, many areas can get covered and the maximum number of people can be treated. Also, the well-attended health camps organized in collaboration with the health institutions can demonstrate to the service providers how health issues can be communicated to the community in an interesting and interactive fashion. Then those people can create awareness about various health issues amongst the people by themselves. It will be a great way to reach out to the maximum number of people.

Swasth Bharat Camps

Swasth Bharat Camp Stall

Swasth Bharat is a Nagpur based NGO.  We organize a free Health Camp in various villages in Amravati District. The main objective of a medical camp is to provide initial care to people in life-threatening conditions which reflect the unique strengths and goals of medical ethics.  Some of the key factors about Swasth Bharat Camps:

  • Around 20,000 people from surrounding villages attended and got cured by health camp. The team comprised of government and private doctors, medical officers, support staff, pharmacists, and a Health Care Van.
  • DXC Technology has provided a fully equipped van for gynecological and eye examination. A thorough eye check-up was conducted by the doctors and also provides spectacles to the people who are suffering from poor eyesight.
  • A stall was set up at the camp location, exclusively for adolescent girls and boys to provide information on reproductive and sexual health. Sanitary pads were distributed to adolescent girls to encourage better hygiene practices during menstruation.
  • Furthermore, as part of the campaign, Hemoglobin tests were conducted. The tests revealed that many youths had a low Hb count. Iron and Folic Acid supplements were distributed to the malnourished.
  • We are aiming to conduct the Health Camps in Nagpur and Nearby villages of Nagpur. Also planning for health camps in Kalyan and Other towns of Mumbai.

Swasth Bharat Mobile Van

We have built a Mobile Health Care Van which comprises of all the health care equipment. The idea of Mobile Health Care is to provide healthcare to all the people of different areas. Doctors and medical professionals are helping villagers by providing preventive measures and routine check-ups.

Health is Wealth

Our main aim is to help people and provide them with all the preventive health care measures. Generally, Medical camps are solely serving humanity by taking care of sick children and adults and giving them healthcare services for free. Because when the majority of hospitals and clinics are closed for the poor people leaving them to die from diseases, trauma, and other health complications, free medical camps step in as their biggest hope. Even the poorest among us deserve the dignity of equal human rights which cannot be declined.

Swasth Nagrik

Our current project, under the name of Swasth Nagrik: Swasth Bharat is being held in Amravati District in Maharashtra, where we are reaching out to 15,000 people across 100 villages, every six months. In this, we are taking into account the environmental factors affecting the health of the people as well.

We start our camps by spreading awareness about the free health service and invite people to visit the camp. We start the registration process so that every patient’s data will be stored in our system for future access.

Firstly, we carry the test of BP,  BMI, Eye Test and General Physician of each patient

Then we carry out Pathology testing which is similar to the Normal Blood Test with advanced technology equipment. And we store all the data like a complete blood count of a patient is stored in the system.

After that, We have an improved technology eye checkup equipment which gives a perfect report of the patient’s eyes.

Our General Physician Doctors check their overall health and provide them with a complete prescription with Hygiene and Nutrition advice, Important diet and exercise suggestions to improve their health. We also provide free medicines and spectacles to the villagers.

We also provide water testing of the villages to check if the water is safe and drinkable for the villagers or not. Our surveyor collects water samples from the villages and they are sent to the lab for testing.

We have partnered with the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) Nagpur. They examine the ambient quality of the air and predict if there is a possibility of any harmful diseases. They check the average air quality index, temperature, and humidity of the air.  Air testing is done as Outdoor air monitoring which is done on the village level and Indoor air monitoring which is done on the house level.

We use a software system and a Swasth Bharat app to store all the data of all the patients so that we can analyze the report and providing proper medication in the second round of the same village.

We keep the patient’s data stored in the form of a Report which includes all their test parameters and doctor suggestions. All this data is collected and an encrypted form of data is stored on the cloud database.

Through the stored data we get the exact numbers of Heart patients, Liver patients, Suspected liver issues, kidney issues, eye issues, anemic diseases, Malnutrition, or Random sugar in the patients.

Under the BMI test, we get the patients of Underweight, Overweight, High Blood Pressure, Low Blood Pressure.

Under-eye test our system Segregates the patient having Normal vision, Myopia, or Hypermetropia.

As our aim is to make these villagers healthier, These camps will be rescheduled in particular villages after a periodic interval. So, all the stored data will be useful to reassess the same patients and examine the progress in their health.

We started our mission by aiming to shortlist 150 to 200 villages from 2000 villages of Amravati District, Maharashtra.

On the basis of the following parameters like the population of the village, Availability of Electricity and Network as it is necessary for the treatment, a requirement of Ample amount of space for the camp set up and structure of roads as our doctors are on wheels. On these parameters, we selected 500 villages for the survey.

Our surveyor took note that amongst these 500 villages, around 200 villages do not have any public health departments or any medical health help centers.

By taking a goal of 200 villages we started the camps on 29th July 2018 in Fatehpur. We are very grateful to our Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr. Devendra Fadnanvis who came to inaugurate and facilitate our noble cause.

Since then We have consulted 1,23,019 villagers and 15,000 patients have been treated in the first cycle of the campaign. Now our rescheduled camps are in progress where we are looking forward to making people healthier.

Our aim is to provide free health camps to 150 to 200 villages around the state and make our India Healthy.
